Review! Mary Kay Cream Blush in Sheer Bliss

Today I'll be reviewing one of the cream blushes by Mary Kay in Sheer Bliss. This is actually the first makeup I've used by Mary Kay.. I've used some of their skincare items before but never the makeup. I got this when my mother asked if there was anything I wanted to try, because if she spent a certain amount more she would receive a free lipgloss set. I was interested in the cream blushes and decided to give it a try..

It comes in little standard compact.. It can be a little bit tricky for me to open but nothing too frustrating! As you can see the packaging is not very fingerprint friendly! I wasn't aware it was so smudged until I uploaded the pictures!

So once you open it up if of course comes with a mirror and the product itself. Unbeknownst to me my mother had opened this before I even knew it had arrived and swatched it.. So there's her fingerprint in there! Our Mary Kay lady was telling her about how it's a cream to powder finish and she told me she couldn't resist trying it.

So it's just a very pretty, fresh and rosy pink.. It has major glitter, though! You can see all the shimmer and sparkle from the photo! It's really packed full.. I really wish it was more of just a subtle shimmer..

Right Blended, Left Unblended

Top Unblended, Bottom Blended

As you can see it's just a very, very sheer and slight wash of color.. Just looking at my wrist I could hardly even tell there was anything there once blended, though.. Looking at the pictures I can see that something showed up, though. Again, I really wish that sparkle wasn't there.. I would have preferred a very fine and subtle shimmer instead of having random sparkles on me..

I didn't find this to be all that buildable, either.. The blended swatch is actually quite a few generous swipes all blended together on top of each other and it didn't seem to make a difference.

On a lighter note, when you touch this product it's just so incredibly smooth and creamy and glides right onto your finger. It feels soooo nice! And it also does blend quite easily..

I wore it today and again, as you can see it's just very sheer..  It gives just a sheer, natural glow.. It doesn't even really look like I'm wearing blush.. It looks more like a highlighter and I wasn't wearing any here! I found most of the color blended away and I was left with mostly random sparkles all over my cheeks..

I went to church and then when I came back I checked to see how it had held up.. I almost forgot I had even applied any blush that morning. It looked like I had never had any on at all.. There was not a single trace! Except for maybe one or two little random sparkles..

So I am a little disappointed but I'll still use it.. It'll be nice for no-makeup makeup looks, I guess! It does give a nice natural glow but with my experience it faded within an hour or so..

-super nice and creamy
-glides onto finger smoothly
-pretty easy to blend
-good for a natural glow

-a little pricey
-very sheer, and not very buildable
-poor color selection (only two shades)

So I really don't think this was worth $18, which is what it cost here. I believe it costs around $13-18 depending on where you are. Now I may try this again with a primer or even setting it with a separate blush.. Now I cannot speak for the other shade which is 'Cranberry', a deep and matte cranberry red shade.. But I do not think I will be trying that one.

Review! Nivea's Gentle Toner

So this toner from Nivea is the first I've tried.. I don't see toner as a must in the skincare routine but I was interested in trying one and this was quite cheap so I picked it up to try.  It's for dry to sensitive skin and claims to gently clarify and soothe.

So after washing my face I use a cotton pad with this. It has a slight fragrance.. Kind of floral.. Or like baby powder. It doesn't bother me.

When you open the cap you have to shake the product out.. Like a soy sauce bottle for lack of a better word/reference! I can't think of the right thing to say! I find it a little difficult to get the right amount of product, and it can sometimes splash around a bit and get wasted if you're not careful.

This toner is definitely gentle. I don't really have sensitive skin, but it's not harsh and it doesn't dry me out. I use it mostly on my nose and chin where I tend to get a little bit oily.. Sometimes I use it on the rest of my face if I feel as if I haven't cleaned thoroughly enough.

On days I hadn't washed thoroughly enough this does get rid of the remaining makeup on my face.. So it will pick it up if there's any left! For a while I didn't think that this product was doing anything for me.. but that was just me washing my face well enough!

I do like this, but I'm not sure if I would repurchase. Toner isn't a must for me.. and most of the time I don't need the help of it to remove makeup or anything as the products I've used prior have already taken care of the job.

I didn't notice any big or very noticeable differences using this product.. It does give me more of a clean feeling, though. It just kind of soothes my skin after having been washed and prepares me for my moisturizer!

China Glaze's Dress Me Up

So, a while ago I got my hands on one of the polishes from China Glaze's Capitol Colors collection! When I got there all the other colors I had been interested in were sold out.. Dress Me Up was the one I wanted the most, though.. And there was only one left!

I finally painted my nails with it yesterday.. I kind of find it more of a fall color so I kept putting  it off.. I wanted to wear it, though! So pictured here is just one coat.. I found that it was well opaque. The formula is wonderful! I'm not sure what to say other than that.. It's just wonderful!

Picture is taken with flash.. I find that the color is a bit darker in real life.. It can almost look brownish. I really like it, though.. It's a pretty nude, and I like the way it goes with my skintone! I'm not quite sure how to describe the color.. It's kind of like a taupey mauve.. Or dusty rose.. It's just kind of a color that everyone may describe differently.

Gala Haul!

So the other night I attended the Look Good, Feel Better gala at Sears, where proceeds go towards cancer! It was my second time going and I had a blast! My mama works one of the stations giving updos and such.. So this time around I brought Megan with me so I wouldn't be walking around by myself! Every guest gets a little gift bag with a magazine, flower, a few goodies and samples! And you also get an $8 off coupon - yay!

So there's everything that I got.. Most of it I got for free!

The first thing that I got is this Shiseido Night Moisture Recharge moisturizer! I actually won this in a Price is Right-esque game! I'm horrible at guessing prices and such so I was a little shocked that I had won! I'm always up for moisturizers so I'm excited to try this one out.

Then at the Lancome counter I finally got my hands on two of the Rouge in Love lipsticks!

Miss Coquelicot, Corail in Love

I chose the shades Miss Coquelicot and Corail in love. They're such beautiful spring-y shades! I definitely want to get more.. There's a few other colors I have had my eye on!

With my Lancome purchase I received a free gift! It came with this cute little silver cosmetic bag..

Samples of Bi-Facil eye makeup remover and Absolute Replenishing Cream.. (I already have a full size of Bi-Facil.. so this would've been nice to throw in a giveaway..! I haven't reached my mark yet to have one, though..)

Sample sizes of Le Crayon Kohl in Black Ebony, Hypnose Drama mascara, and Cils Booster XL mascara base..

And a sample of Bright Expert! You got to pick one of the products to have a second sample of and I chose to have two of these.. I'm all up for trying to lessen the appearance of the dark marks on my forehead so why not?! They're actually quite a nice size.. I probably didn't even need to choose to have a second one..!

Now at the fragrance counter if you purchased any fragrance you got a free bag and free little goody bag..

So I got Meow! by Katy Perry. I'm not the biggest fan of Katy Perry.. but I love the smell of Purr and Meow! I prefer Meow! a little more though, and I think it's also a little softer.. So I chose it! And also, I'm a crazy cat lady, so... I mean look at the bottle! It's to die for! I absolutely love it - too cute to describe.

For the free gift I chose the goody bag that had the Purr lotion and shower gel! I was excited that they had them!

Also in the goody bag was this lip gloss.. It smells like candy! Like a Ring Pop or something.. Its scent reminds me of lip glosses I used to have when I was younger. The interesting thing about this, though..

It has a wand! Since it was in a tube I just expected it to squeeze out.. I was pretty surprised when I opened it to this! Reminds me of the tube mascara by Eyeko!

You also got a free bag along with your fragrance purchase! I chose this fantastic Lise Watier bag! I absolutely love it, it's adorable! And the interior is this gorgeous hot pink! And unbeknownst to me it came with even more goodies inside!

Inside the bag was the Foiles Neiges body lotion by Lise Watier, as well as a little sample of Resist-Age Cell Matrix Metamulsion.

Since my mom was working a station she also got a thank you gift! She received a bit Ralph Lauren tote bag with lots of goodies inside!

She got a bottle of the Kim Kardashian perfume and told me that I could have it since she doesn't really wear perfumes.. She prefers body sprays/splashes and finds most perfumes too strong. Now I can't stand Kim Kardashian.. but I really like this scent a lot!

She also said that I could have these body lotions since she probably won't use them and finds them a little strong.. This is Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci and Acqua di Gioia - both smell super nice!

So that's all.. as you can see I really did get a lot of goodies! As always, thank you for reading!

theBalm Betty-Lou Manizer

I recently managed to get my hands on the Betty-Lou Manizer bronzer by theBalm from a local 'shop and swap' group on Facebook! I called it immediately! It had only ever been swatched and I got it for $15 instead of the regular $24 it retails for - I'm a happy camper! This is my first product by theBalm and I'm very excited to try it out! I've been intrigued by their products for quite a while, now!

My camera kept capturing a glare.. so this is the only clear shot where you can see 'Betty-Lou'!

Here you can see a bit more clearly!

So here is what theBalm website says about this product..

"Fake it, don't bake it! Before you head out to relish some well deserved fun, score a faux, sun-kissed glow with theBalm's Betty-Lou Manizer, a silky smooth, all-in-one bronzing highlighter, shimmer, and shadow. Layer this soft, paraben - and talc- free formula on your lids for a luxe look, or sweep on your cheeks, forehead, and chin for an instant, goddess glow."

Their packaging is very cute! I think Wanted poster packaging is clever and witty! And, of course cute!

So the product is packaged in your standard compact. It comes with a nice little mirror, as well. It closes very securely.. It's a little tricky for me to try and open! I don't have to worry about it opening accidentally inside my bag, though!

Here's a small swatch so you can have an idea of how it looks! Once again, I apologize for the photo! Swatch photos are still being very tricky for me!

Anyway, I can't wait to play around with this! It's very soft and nicely pigmented! I put a little on just to test it out and I was very happy with the glow that it gave me - very nice! I think I'm really going to like this product!

Smashbox Be Discovered Palette

So, as you know from my latest post I finally got the Be Discovered palette by Smashbox that I've been wanting! I love it already and I have some swatches and stuff to share with you!

So here's the little box the palette comes packaged inside - it's cute! Here's what the back says about the palette:

"Be discovered with this iconic eye palette for famously beautiful eyes. Including eight richly pigmented, blendable shadows, this palette has the perfect hues to skyrocket you to stardom."

So let's see what the actual packaging of the palette looks like..

Super cute, isn't it?! So it's just a smaller palette, it's about the size of my hand. It's pretty sturdy with a good weight. It has magnetic closure that's pretty secure but I think I would have preferred if it had more secure closure like a snap.. I can't think of the word right now, I'm sorry! When you open it up it comes with a mirror and of course the eight shadows. There's a plastic insert over the mirror to protect it. The mirror is a good size, it's almost as big as the cover itself.

So here's palette once you open it so that you can see the mirror and shadows! Aren't the colors gorgeous? From top, left to right is Bliss, Rosewater, Opal, Mist, Adobe, Champagne, Pebble, and Lilac. They're all easy to match and put together, and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them - they all go together well!

The shadows are all very soft, smooth and silky. Because they're so soft they can create a little bit of fallout in the pan, but nothing very messy. They all blend quite nicely and they're nicely pigmented and translate well onto the skin. I find that you get the exact color! The only color I found a bit stubborn to swatch was Pebble.. It was a little more sheer then the others but you can easily build it up.

Now onto swatches.. I apologize for the pictures - I did my best to get good pictures! I'm including two pictures as one came out with a little warmer coloring.

These were taken indoors with natural lighting.. One with flash and one without. I've listed the names above the shades so that you don't have to go back and check! I've swatched these over Too Faced Shadow Insurance, in case you would like to know.

Now I didn't swatch Bliss that well.. It is a light color but it really isn't as sheer as it appears in the photos. That's my fault, though as I didn't get a good amount!

So I hope that I did the colors justice.. It's difficult for me to get good swatch photos! I'm trying to improve, though!

I can't wait to play around and wear these shades.. They're so pretty and perfect for spring!

And, in case anyone was wondering.. I purchased this palette for $51.00 Canadian from the Sephora website!

Sephora Goodies!!

Guess what I got in the mail today! I'm sure you've already guessed by the title and picture.. My Sephora order arrived!

I needed to order my Smashbox Be Discovered palette online as they were all sold out where I live! I got a few other little goodies, though. So let's see what I got!

I of course got my three free samples! I chose Dior's Hydra Life BB Cream, the Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer, and Dr Dennis Goss Skincare Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel steps one and two! Being samples, I'm not sure there's enough of the product for me to form a solid opinion on them.. But I still look forward to trying them out regardless! Now onto the good stuff!

Of course the main thing - the Smashbox Be Discovered palette! I'm happy to finally have it - it was a pain to get! Along with that I got Too Faced Shadow Insurance and a deluxe sample of Hourglass Primer Serum using a code at checkout!

I'm going to have a post on the Be Discovered palette along with swatches and such soon! Thank you for reading!

Essie's Chinchilly

I recently purchased Chinchilly by Essie and I must say, I quite like it! The Essie website describes it as a 'sleek, granite gray', but I see it as a bit of a greige.  I used two coats here. The first coat was a little streaky, but with the second it was all okay!

Revlon Lip Butters!

So I've finally got my hands on some of the lip butters! My mama was really sweet and got some for me for an Easter gift!

From left to right I got the shades Sweet Tart, Peach Parfait, Lollipop and Tutti Frutti. So the packaging is similar to Revlon's Color Burst lipsticks and such with the same quilted packaging. The color of the caps all represent which color lip butter they are, and there is also a plastic window on the top of each cap so you can see the color there as well!

Revlon Lip Butters in 'Sweet Tart', 'Peach Parfait', 'Lollipop', and 'Tutti Frutti'.

When you take the cap off they have a very sleek, silver tube.  They look similar to Dior lipsticks..! You can see here that the cover matches with each color lip butter! You can even see on Peach Parfait's cap that it even has some shimmer - just like the actual product! So I quite like the packaging, I really love the silver Dior-esque tubes.

So these are basically like lipbalm/lipstick hybrids! They apply like lipbalms but have pigmentation almost like a lipstick! Some shades are more sheer then others, and some are more opaque then others - it all depends on which you choose! Some are just sheer like a tinted lip balm but others can be as pigmented as a lipstick.

I wore Sweet Tart today and it applied smoothly and buttery! I liked the feel of it on my lips and it did feel pretty nice and moisturizing. Pigmentation was nice, it was quite opaque! I wore it to Easter brunch and it did come off on my straw I was drinking from, but they're more like balms so I didn't expect their staying power to be that great. The color did stay on the whole time, though! I did reapply to give more life back to the color, but the first application did stay! I wouldn't apply these without a mirror just because they're more pigmented then regular balms or tinted balms so be careful!

So here they all are swatched on the inside of my wrist! Left to right is Tutti Frutti, Lollipop, Peach Parfait, and Sweet Tart! They have a nice, glossy finish! And they have pretty nice pigmentation, huh!? I find Tutti Frutti and Peach Parfait can be a bit more sheer applied on the lips, though.

Here is Sweet Tart on my lips! Isn't it such a pretty pink color? I'd say it's more yellow based then blue. It's just a very sweet pink.. like a sweet tart! It's a perfect spring color!

Here is Peach Parfait! This one applied on my lips more sheer then the others.. It's still very pretty, though and gives a nice hint of color. It's just a warm peach with some fine golden shimmer.

This one is Tutti Frutti! It's a really nice orange, or coral - whichever you would call it! I see it as orange, though! I was always very intrigued by this shade - I mean, it's orange! It doesn't apply as opaque as it looks in the tube, though. It's a bit more sheer and that makes it very wearable! It's an awesome shade for spring! I love how it looks!

And here is Lollipop! Another great shade for spring! It's like a blue based fuschia and it's just awesome! It's bright and fun!

There's just a great range of shades of these! Lots of them are awesome colors for the spring and the summer! I'd love to pick up more eventually - I really enjoy them so far!

Anyway, thank you for reading as always! And Happy Easter, of course!
