May Favorites

So for the month of May I chose just four products for my favorites.. Let's quickly run through them!

I've been loving the Queen Helene Mint Julep Natural Facial Scrub..! I've always heard great things about Queen Helene Mint Julep things but it had never been available here before.. It is now, though I decided to try it. I really like it! I had some blackheads or something going on by my chin that no other scrub seemed to get rid of, but with one use of these it was clear! It's a really lovely scrub, I'm jumping on the bandwagon and recommending it!

I've also really enjoyed my EOS balm in Strawberry Sorbet this month.. I love my EOS balms and I had never had this flavor before.. I think that it's my favorite! It smells so yummy!

I also enjoyed my Avon Glow Bronzing Powder in Light Sands this month.. I've been using it instead of my Rimmel bronzer.. It makes a great subtle contour. I wrote a review for it here!

And last I absolutely adored the Cover FX Total Coverage Cream Foundation.. This is my new best friend and love. I wish I had discovered it earlier! I use it as a concealer on my dark marks/scars/hyperpigmentation/whatever you want to call it on my forehead, and it makes it look flawless! My Revlon Photoready didn't seem to be cutting it for me anymore so I had gone to try out Benefit's Boing concealer.. Where it's available they only carry two of the shades, though! So the lovely girl working recommended this and tried it out on me. Ugh, it just makes me look so flawless. I absolutely love it. Thank you to that wonderful sales associate for introducing it to me!

NARS Blush in Sin

I just very recently was able to get my hands on Sin by NARS. I was browsing my local 'shop 'n swap' group again and came across it - it had only been used once and they were asking $15 instead of the regular $32CA. I was quite excited and I immediately called it! I actually bought it from the same girl I got my Betty Lou Manizer from!

Sin is described as a 'berry with gold shimmer'. Personally, I think it could also be described kind of as a dusty rose. However you want to describe it, though, it's very pretty!

You get 0.16oz. of product in the standard NARS compact. I really love NARS packaging. I love packaging that's sleek, usually black, classy, and simple. So, for me their packaging is perfect. Of course the only gripe I have is that (if you're not familiar with their packaging, the outside is like a rubberized texture) it gets dirty very easily. I've only had it for a bit and it's already quite smudged with fingerprints.

Here it is just swatched on my finger tips. I only needed one swipe. The pigmentation is absolutely lovely. When applying, you only need a light tap of product on your brush - a little goes a long way! As always, it's best to have less in the first place because you can always add more color.

It applies and blends just wonderfully, the texture is perfect, you only need a little, it lasts throughout the day.. It's basically just a fantastic blush! You definitely get what you pay for!

On the cheeks this just gives the most beautiful glow, it's simply amazing! I'm in love! I think it would be even more wonderful during the winter! Nah.. It's just wonderful for all the time!  It just gives the prettiest, natural glow and is flattering on almost every skintone! It may look a little intimidating in the pan to some, but again, once you use a light hand and apply it you'll fall in love!

I would most definitely pay full price for this. It's just fabulous. Ugh.. I love it!

OOTD

I just wanted to share my outfit of the day because I thought it was cute..! And also because I haven't updated in a few days.. I'll try to have new posts soon! Anyway..

My blouse is from Dynamite, and my shorts are from Suzy. I also just wore some brown wedges that are also from Suzy.

I'm wearing Miss Coquelicot again - it's an awesome summer color! And on my nails is Essie's Mesmerize - it matches my shirt, ha!

I had seen pictures of Mesmerize before but didn't know what the name was.. I begged to know, but in the end I ended up figuring it out on my own. It's such an amazing color, I love it!

Well, thank you for reading! xo

Quick FOTD

I just wanted to quickly share my face of the day.. that I actually wore yesterday, haha. It's nothing special at all but for some reason I just really liked it! It's very simple! Here's what I used..!

For my face I used..

  • Avon's Nutura Replenishing Cream
  • Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 220 Natural Beige for Dry/Normal Skin mixed with Garnier Moisture Rescue Lotion (more lotion then foundation)
  • Revlon Photoready Concealer in Light Medium
  • Avon Glow Bronzing Powder in Light Sands
  • Some really old Mary Kay Loose Powder in Beige (So, I lied! In my review for Mary Kay's Cream Blush I said I had never tried their makeup before..! I totally forgot about having one of their lipglosses and this powder! Oops! The powder is super old but still works perfectly fine, don't judge! It was one of my first makeup items!)
On my eyes I used..
  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • The Body Shop Brow & Liner Duo in 01
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
  • theBalm Betty-Lou Manizer (it's so gorgeous used as an eyeshadow!)
  • Smashbox Be Discovered palette, shade Bliss
  • Lancome Artliner in Noir
  • Lancome Le Crayon Kohl in Black Coffee
  • Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara in Glam Brown
And for my lips I used..
  • EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet
  • Lancome Rouge in Love Lipstick in Corail in Love

Review! Avon Glow Bronzing Powder

Alright, so this is the last review for all of those Avon products! These are the bronzers from the Glow collection. I got two of them, an they were $9.99 but will be $12.

There are five shades: Sunkissed Glow, Warm Glow, Light Bronze, Light Sands, and Deep Tan. The two I got are Warm Glow and Light Sands.

Here's what they say about these in the campaign book..

"Silky, luminous bronzer blends easily for a streak-free, radiant look."

Warm Glow, Light Sands

These come in the standard, compact case.. The same compact as the True Color Eyeshadow Quads. They come with a little piece of protective plastic over the product.

I chose these colors because I thought Warm Glow would be nice to just add, well, a nice glow! In the campaign book Light Sands looks darker so I got it to try as a contour.. Warm Glow is actually the darker of the two, though.

So here is Warm Glow. It's more of a red toned brown with some fine, golden shimmer. It's pretty. It kind of reminds me of the Betty-Lou Manizer by theBalm, but they have different tones.

And here is Light Sands. It's a bit darker in real life. It's not as warm as Warm Glow, it's more cool toned. It's just a light, matte brown.

Here are the swatches on the back of my arm. Warm Glow is on the left, and Light Sands on the right. They're nice. I had to swipe Warm Glow about two times, and Light Sands took a few more for the swatch.

Now, these also have scents. The same scent as the Bronzing Pearls. Again, I can't quite put my finger on the smell but I don't like it.. I really wish these products were scentless!

These both work pretty well. They give a very nice subtle, and natural glow or contour, whichever you're using them for. I've been using Light Sands as a light contour lately instead of my Rimmel Maxi Bronzer.

These do create fallout, but this can be prevented by simply not swirling your brush in them! You only really need a tap of product! This doesn't cause fallout, and also, if you get too much it can look muddy and not pleasant at all and can be a bit hard to blend out. Less is more! Again, you only need a tap, and if you need more you can add it as you go!

So, I do like these. And I really like the imprint of the sun on them.. I think it's really cute! :)

Review! Avon Glow Bronzing Pearls

For the Glow collection Avon came out with two shades; Bronzed (the darker of the two) and Sunkissed. I thought Sunkissed looked pretty and I had never tried any cosmetic pearls before so I decided to give them a try! They were $9.99 but will be $12. Here's what they say about them in the campaign book:

"Multi-colored pearls swirl together for an instant radiant glow."

I thought that the jar would be a little taller.. It's the same height as my deluxe sample of Benefit's Total Moisture Facial Cream. This didn't make me angry or anything, haha, I had just assumed it would be a taller jar.

When you open it there's a piece of foam there to protect the pearls. So if you threw it in your bag or something they won't get all crushed up or anything.

And then when you remove the foam insert there's obviously the pearls! They're very pretty. There's warm champagne, very pretty and warm pink and light bronze colored pearls. The pearls cover just the bottom of the jar, and then the second layer only covers almost half the jar.. If that makes sense! At first I didn't think it seemed like much, but I think it's fine! I only need a light dusting. The jar is 22 g..

Here's another look at the pearls.. Now these do have a scent.. I don't think it's so much of a bad scent, but I don't like it very much. I'm not sure how to describe it.

Here's a swatch on the back of my arm. Doesn't it give just the prettiest glow? I use this as a highlight and love it! It's a great highlight for summer and to pair with a tan. I use my Avon Glow Bronzing Brush with these and they make a wonderful pair!

So, I really like these and I'm happy that I decided to give them a try! I've been using them pretty much everyday!

Review! Avon Glow Bronzing Brush

So, from Avon's Glow collection I also decided to try out the brush.. It was $5.99. I've never really been interested in Avon's brushes because honestly, I didn't expect the quality to be anything great. The reason I got this brush, though is pretty much because I loved how it looked..! It was pretty cheap so it wouldn't be a big loss to my wallet if it wasn't any good.

Okay, so the first thing I want to say is.. This brush is so incredibly soft! I definitely wasn't expecting it, but it's amazingly soft! It's the softest brush I have and the softest brush I've ever felt! I could just feel it all day! How can something be so soft and wonderful?! I wish I had a blanket as soft as this!

This brush  just feels so nice that I could talk about just that forever.. So let's move on..!

The brush is smaller then my hand, about the size of just my palm. I like it. It's pleasant to hold and easy to control the pressure of application. I found that the ferrule is the teeniest tiniest bit loose from the handle depending on how you handle it. It's nothing major and nothing to worry about, though! I also haven't experienced any shedding so far. All the hairs seem to be quite well secured. Oh, and totally forgot to mention.. The hairs are nylon bristles.

The campaign book says that this brush is designed for perfect Glow Bronzer application.. I have tried it out with bronzers (as well as the Glow Bronzers) but I prefer to use it for highlighting! That's my favorite thing to use it for! I find that it's just perfect to highlight the high points of my cheeks, and it's great to sweep across the chin and forehead as well.

It picks up product pretty well. With certain products it actually looks as if it hadn't picked up any product at all - but it does! It picks up the perfect little amount! Again, especially for highlight purposes.

I'm really enjoying this brush.. I've actually been thinking about getting another one because I like it so much!

Review! Avon Glow Eye Liner

Alright, I'm back with reviews for all those Avon products! Today will be the Glow Eye Liners (really just special/le glimmersticks..!)

Now I love Avon's Glimmerstick eye liners.. They're probably the first eyeliners I'd ever used and I still use them today! They're awesome! Definitely one of Avon's gems! They apply so smoothly, don't smudge, have pretty great staying power, are just all in all easy to apply and more! I love them!

Anyway, I got the colors Copper Paradise and Desert Gold from the Glow collection. They also had a teal color and a violet, but I already have an awesome teal liner and wasn't that interested in the violet. I decided on these more natural colors for, well, a natural look!

Copper Paradise, Desert Gold

So, if you're not familiar with these liners they have great packaging! Great to throw in your bag for on the go! They're twist-ups and self sharpening! They do a pretty good job at staying 'sharpened'!

Desert Gold, Copper Paradise

So Desert Gold is just a pale gold, and is a little sheer.. Copper Paradise is a rich and pretty copper! They're pretty colors, great to pair with a tan!

Now I found Desert Gold could drag a little and wasn't as easy to apply as Copper Paradise.. I prefer to use it more for subtle highlighting purposes line in the inner corner of the eye, even as a pop on the lower lashes!

Copper Paradise, like all my glimmersticks, glides on very smooth and creamy! It applied so nicely! It was a piece of cake! The color transferred great and was just as rich as the swatch on my wrist! It's a nice little change to use instead of a regular black or brown liner!

I'd always recommend the regular line of glimmerstick liners, so I'd recommend these ones as well!

I got these when they were on sale for $3.99, but they will be $7.99! Avon, as always though, is always having sales! You can always get these liners cheap!

Review! Avon Nailwear Pro Enamel in Venus

Eek, I apologize for the fingerprints and such on the bottle! I don't notice these things until I crop the photo.. Kind of embarrassing! Anyway here is Avon's Venus.

It's kind of a unique color.. It's not quite gold, copper, etc. or anything.. It's almost kind of like.. perhaps a rose gold.. somewhat.. I'm having a total brain fart trying to describe this color! I have seen others describe it as a butterscotch.. I think the interpretation is up to the wearer!

Anyway, with one coat I found that it was opaque enough for me.. I think if you wanted it a little more opaque two coats would be more then enough. It was a very nice and easy formula, not too sheer or too thick or anything.. Just about right! The brush was also a great size and I really enjoyed using it.

The finish is interesting! It's kind of frosty.. kind of metallic.. At times when I look at my nails it looks as if I'm wearing metallic nail stickers!

I find that the polish changes with different light and different angles, so getting a nice picture was kind of difficult.

I had actually thought this polish would be a little more sheer and more of a nude when I saw it in my preview catalog.. That's why I got it! I wanted a nice sheer, nude polish.. So it's definitely not what I was expecting but it's cool!

I got this when it was $3.49, opposed to regular $6.99.

Review! Avon Shine Attract Lipstick

Shine Attract Lipstick in "Guava"

When the Shine Attract lipsticks first came out I saw them as kind of gimmicky, and thought it would be difficult to get proper color distribution having the color just in the middle and the gloss surrounding.. Something about the shade Guava kept drawing me back in, though. So, when I saw them go on sale I decided to try them out as I really wasn't too fond on the $12 they're originally priced at.

Here is what they say about the product in the campaign book..

"The perfect balance of luscious color, hydrating gloss & soft shine in one ingenious package."

First off, I really do like the packaging. It's very sleek and pretty. I really like the silver tubing.

These do have a slight scent.. Right now I can't think of the words to decribe it.. Not that I'm all that great at describing scents in the first place. It's kind of like a generic lipstick scent but also kind of sickly sweet.. I'm not the biggest fan of it but I don't really notice it unless I go out of my way to take a whiff of the tube.

Now, these do glide on super smoothly! And they do feel very nice on the lips. They really do feel hydrating.. I suppose they kind of feel similar to Revlon lip butters. So the clear layer is the gloss.. And it gives the lips a nice shine. My gripe, though, is that because the gloss surrounds the actual color application can be un-even.. Most of the color only gets onto the middle of the lips.. So you'll have to rub your lips together and such to try and even it out. I think it would've been a better idea to perhaps add the gloss to the middle of the product! The color is also pretty sheer. Guava is kind of the shade of my lips.. It just gives my natural lips a bit more life with the shine and color. I don't mind this, but with lighter shades offered I imagine they would barely show up..

Swatched on the inside of my wrist.. This is actually quite a few swipes.. It didn't really show up that well and there is only a thin strip of the color sandwiched between the gloss..

On my lips.. It just adds a bit more life to my natural lips..

I find that these also have a taste.. That I really don't like. I do my best to avoid getting any of this in my mouth because I dislike the taste so much. It's a similar taste to that of my Maybelline Babylips balm in Quenched.. Which I hated. This doesn't slip into my mouth as easily, though.

Staying time is also average.. Nothing horrible but nothing totally fantastic. The shine fades and the color will dull out a bit.. I wasn't drinking or eating but I felt the shine faded within an hour of wear and the color wasn't as noticeable, even though it's sheer and a "my lips" color to begin with.

So I don't really think I would repurchase.. And I really don't see myself ever paying full price for these. I prefer my Revlon lip butters, which now that I think about it, I do find somewhat similar.

Swatches! Miss Coquelicot & Corail in Love

Today I just have a small post with swatches of my two Rouge in Love lipsticks by Lancome. They're beautiful shades that are perfect for spring, I really like them. I haven't actually worn these out, yet.. I've only swatched on my wrist and quickly on my lips, but as with all my Lancome lipsticks my first opinion is that I really like them!

So I'll just get right to it and show you the swatches!

Miss Coquelicot, Corail in Love

Aren't they pretty? I think my favorite of the two is Corail in Love.. It's just such a pretty, pinky, my-lips-but-better color! And as you can see Miss Coquelicot is a bright and fun coral! I tried to take pictures of each shade on my lips but I only got one decent shot of Corail in Love.

Corail in Love

All of the Rouge in Love lipsticks are all such beautiful colors, and I definitely wouldn't mind getting my hands on some others! I know that I have my eyes on a couple other shades!

Review! Freeman Cucumber Peel-Off Mask

Today I have my review of the peel-off cucumber mask by Freeman! I really do like this mask and it's lots of fun!

Here is what they have to say about the product on the back of the tube..

"Made with natural, botanical ingredients, Freeman Feeling Beautiful is a full range of skin and body care products to help you look and feel your best.

This clarifying mask gently peels away impurities while Cucumber Extract leaves your skin smooth and silky."

It comes in a great sized tube with 150 ml of product, and it will last you quite a while!  The instructions are as follows..

"Apply evenly to face, avoiding eye area. Leave on 5-10 minutes or until dry. Gently peel off masque. Rinse with warm water."

The consistency of the product is a very thick and sticky gel.. Although a bit sticky it's quite easy to apply. So this has kind of a cucumber smell and while I don't really enjoy it all that much it's not a problem.. I only notice it at first when I first dispense the product onto my fingers.. Once it's on my face and such I find that I don't really notice it anymore.

Also, make sure to pull your hair back so it doesn't get in the way or get stuck in the mask! I just like to wear a headband and put my hair in a bun so none of it gets in the way.

I find that this dries in about 10-15 minutes.. Within five minutes it's still a little sticky and tacky..  As it dries you'll find that you won't really be able to move your face! It'll be hard to smile or talk and such so don't worry. And you'll look pretty weird, as well! Anyway, I wait until it's nice and dry and then the fun begins!

I have so much fun peeling this stuff off! I like to loosen it up at the chin and at the forehead and then carefully peel it all off in one piece. It's lots of fun!

Here I am afterwards with the mask! My skin is left feeling very soft, smooth and supple just as they claimed! I feel nice and refreshed and ready to finish the rest of my routine.

So I quite like this mask, plus it's cheap! I think it's worth a try, especially under $5! I'm interested in trying out some of their other masks and such, as well!

China Glaze's IV

It's getting warmer and brighter outside and it's beginning to feel more like springtime so I decided to paint my nails a nice, bright color to match! It's a pretty pinky, coral.. It kind of reminds me of Apricot Mystery from Avon, actually! I might compare them later..

Anyway I used two coats as the first was quite sheer and streaky.. The formula of this wasn't the best but I do really enjoy the color!

April Favorites!

Well, here are my favorites for the month of April! I have five products, which from left to right are the Smashbox Be Discovered palette, Lancome's Doll Lashes mascara, the Kim Kardashian fragrance, Revon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait and my Revlon PhotoReady concealer in Light Medium.

We'll start with the Smashbox palette.. In short, I love this thing! I wrote a review and provided swatches for it here. The shades I had been using the most are Bliss, Opal, Adobe and Pebble. They're great colors to wear just everyday for a nice, natural look!

I had stopped using my Doll Lashes mascara for a bit, and began using it again during April. I really do like this mascara, it's probably my favorite after my Maybelline Colossal. And I also just really love the packaging - so nice! I just love how this curls my lashes and makes them look.

Next is the Kim Kardashian perfume. I got this here. As I said, I really can't stand Kim Kardashian.. but I really love this scent! I've been wearing it everyday! The scent is absolutely lovely and it's not too overpowering and strong.

Another product I loved this April were the Revlon Lip Butters.. I reviewed and provided swatches for four of them here! The one I've been wearing the most is Peach Parfait. It's just very nice and natural! They feel so nice on the lips and there's no need to apply a balm prior!

And next is the Revlon PhotoReady concealer.. This was also a favorite for March! I reviewed and raved about it here!

And there's actually another product that I had forgotten to include in the picture..!

It's the Nutura Replenishing Cream by Avon! Now my mom has used this for years.. and then I heard that my friend had been using it as well and it cleared her acne and helped to prevent more. I had some pesky pimples at the time so I decided to give this a try.. My mom had a few stocked up so I got my own jar! And guess what? After a few days my pimples did clear up! Plus, this is also a great moisturizer! It leaves my skin very soft and supple and almost radiant! I really love this stuff! It's definitely worth giving a try and these are almost always on sale in the Avon campaigns! Sometimes even as low as around $3.49! It's a great product!

April Empties!

So today I have my April empties post! Once again I have three products..

Sally Hansen Kwik Off: I talked about how much I love this here

Would I buy it again? Yes! I have already repurchased!

Blistex Deep Moisture Renewal: I did like this balm.. It did help my lips but nothing HG-worthy.

Would I buy it again? I don't think so. I'd rather try out some different balms!

Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream: So this was just a deluxe sample size.. It lasted me a good 2-3 months, though! I've talked about this before and how much I like it! I'm sad to see it empty but I do have another deluxe sample of it!

Would I buy it again? I would be interested in purchasing the full size of this! I really did enjoy it!
