Empties for July

Well, July is ending already.. Tomorrow will be August! I'm both sad and excited.. Sad that the summer is going by so quickly and excited because my birthday is on the third, hehe.. Anyway, during July I managed to finish up four products.

Here they are.. Two makeup products and two skincare, er.. one skincare and one lipcare? Whatever.

Revlon PhotoReady Concealer: I really like this concealer. I wrote a review and raved about it here. It's my favorite concealer from the drugstore and best one I've tried. I've used as much as I can but I can no longer get any more out of the tube. It's a great concealer and I'll definitely be repurchasing as soon as possible. I'm currently without a concealer and only have my Cover FX foundation, which I use as a concealer on my dark spots/acne scars on my forehead.. I don't like to use it anywhere else since it's heavier. So yeah! I've been meaning to get another tube but I kept thinking, "Nah, I'm sure I can still scrape out enough to use tomorrow..!"

Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer: This is an alright primer, nothing special. It doesn't suck but it isn't great. I did write a review for it here, but I don't think I like it as much as I seemed to back then. Ah, I've also said for months I was close to finishing it but I would always brush it off and skip the step.. So today was the day I finally used it up. I wouldn't repurchase it, though the Fix & Perfect Pro primer seems interesting I'm not sure I'll be trying it out.

Blistex Cherry Lip Medex: ..Meh. I picked this up randomly one day when I was in desperate need of a lipbalm.. I basically chose the first one I saw and bought it. Um.. Hmm.. Well it says on the back of the tube it's for temporary relief of chapped lips etc.. I don't want temporary relief..! I want something that will help to repair my lips and moisturize them and such! I need a good balm because I get very dry lips and I have the horrible habit of picking at them as well. So I wouldn't repurchase this. Also, if you get it in your mouth it's super, super unpleasant. Almost like your throat is closing up.

Nivea Gentle Toner: I wrote a review for this here. I was unsure if I'd repurchase because it just seemed like an extra step that didn't quite do anything but I did end up repurchasing! I like the extra fresh feeling it gives me after my routine, and I also like using it after using a scrub to get any excess I missed while rinsing. I also like to use it before I wax brows.

So there are my empties! Did you finish up any products during July?

July Favorites

It's time again for monthly favorites! I have eight products that I really enjoyed this month, one of which I forgot to include in the photo. So here are my favorites for the month of July..

theBalm Betty-Lou Manizer: I wore a lot of strapless tops and dresses during July and this is the perfect glowing bronzer to sweep on your neck, chest and shoulders - which is my favorite thing to use this product for. I don't use it on my face as much as the body. It also helped to hide faint tan lines.

theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer: Mary-Lou earns another spot on my monthly favorites! This is my favorite highlighter, it's just so pretty! I use it basically everyday. I also use it as a brow highlight. It's a great product!

Avon Banishing Cream: I decided to try this cream out when I was repurchasing my Avon Nutura Replenishing Cream and there was a deal on.. I like it quite a lot! It's supposed to improve skin discoloration and you know I have those pesky dark spots/acne scars. I've been using this more then the Nutura Replenishing Cream since I've got it.. I feel as if it has somewhat improved my dark marks! I'll be continuing use and see what happens..

Crown Brush Contour Brush: I ordered this off of Hautelook when Crown Brush was on. I use it obviously to contour and I quite like it! It's about time I had a more proper contouring brush. I believe this is the first tool/brush to be included in a monthly favorites post of mine!

Meow! by Katy Perry: I just adore this scent. Adore. It just.. I love it, that's all. And the bottle.. Oh goodness, the bottle. I'm a pleased crazy cat lady.

Revlon Lip Butters in Lollipop and Sweet Tart: I've been loving bright lips and also my lip butters! I wore one of these two almost everday!

And my last favorite is the one I forgot to picture..

CoverGirl Lipstick in Fairytale: Such a fun bright color! When I wanted a lipstick rather then a lip butter it was always this one! It's the only CG lippie that I own and I'm pretty impressed. Does it ever stain, though! You have to break out the makeup remover or lip scrub to get the color off! Still love it, though!

So what were your favorite products during July?

My Summer Makeup Essentials!

Today I thought that I would share some of my essential makeup items for the summer! So to start off we of course have..

...products with lots of SPF! Pictured here is Garnier's Moisture Rescue Lotion with SPF 15, Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream with SPF 35, and Cover FX Total Coverage Cream Foundation with SPF 30. It's important to protect your skin from the sun so products with SPF are very important especially during the hot summer!

Next is highlighter! Pictured is theBalm's Mary Lou-Manizer. Highlighters are one of my favorite makeup products! They help to give you that gorgeous summer glow! A lot of the time I just skip blush during the summer and wear just a highlighter!

Next up - bronzer! Pictured here is Avon's Glow Bronzing Powder in Light Sands and theBalm's Betty Lou-Manizer. You definitely want some color in the summer and bronzers will help add that and warm up your face! The Betty Lou-Manizer is also perfect to sweep on your neck and chest, especially when wearing strapless tops. It gives the perfect glow whether it's on your face or body!

Colorful makeup! Pictured is Bedhead by TIGI's eyeliner in Teal (in the old packaging) and L'oreal's Color Infallible Eyeshadow in Magnetic Coral. I'm very much a neutrals girl but I've been trying to wear more color this summer. I like lining my eyes in a wing with the teal liner, it gives a little pop of color and something different then your regular black or brown!

And last is bright lip colors! This is CoverGirl's lipstick in Fairytale and Revlon's Lip Butter in Sweet Tart. I love bright lips! And the summertime is the best time to rock them! I wear a different one almost every day!

So I don't wear as much makeup during the summer but these are the essential products that I like to use. What are yours?

My Favorite Summer Polishes!

I'm not that much of a nail polish girl but I still like having them painted, despite how I absolutely loathe doing them, and getting new pretty colors. Today I thought that I would share a few of my favorite nail polishes for the summer! So we'll just go from left to right..

Venus by Avon: I did a review and showed this on my nails here. It's a pretty shimmery/metallic bronze that pairs well with a tan.

Turned Up Turquoise by China Glaze: This is a turquoise, obviously, with some very fine and faint shimmer that gives a nice effect/finish. Excuse my lack of knowledge on nail polish terms! I really hate the formula on this unfortunately.. It's thin, streaky, watery etc.. but I really like the color so I'll bare with it! I'm wearing it on my toes currently!

Sweet by CND: This is a bright and eye-catching hot pink.. think Barbie pink! I love the formula and it's pretty opaque in just one coat! It looks great with a tan as well! I have this on my nails right now.. This and Turned Up Turquoise look pretty rad together!

Coral Reef by Avon: Another Avon polish! I did a review and showed it on my nails here. I think this is my favorite of the bunch! It's a perfect summer color! It's fun and bright, and again, looks great with a tan!

Mesmerized by Essie: This is an amazing deep blue! It's really lovely. It's not too bright nor too dull. It's bold but not too in your face! It's a perfect blue polish! When I saw a swatch online of it I absolutely had to have it! So like the rest of the bunch it's a great color for the summer!

What are your favorite polishes for the summertime? :)

theBalm on Hautelook

Hey everyone! I haven't had much to post lately... but I really have to let you know about this! This Friday, July 20, theBalm will be on Hautelook again!

I purchased my Balm Girls lipstick, Frat Boy blush and Mary Lou-Manizer from Hautelook the last time they were on there - all for great deals! So if you're interested in theBalm or already love the brand you won't want to miss it!

If you don't know what Hautelook is it's basically a website that offers up to 75% off on beauty, clothing, shoes.. anything! I was a little skeptical at first and never signed up.. but it's legit and safe and an awesome website! I really wish I had signed up earlier and gotten in on past beauty deals!

So if you're already a member on Hautelook remember to check in on Friday and see what theBalm goodies they have! And if you're not a member and want to sign up you can click right here! Best thing is that it's free!

Anyway, I have a few posts in mind so hopefully I'll update more soon!

What I'm Loving Right Now..

The Avon Precision Grip Teardrop Blender. This is Avon's version of the Beauty Blender and I'm really enjoying using it with my Cover FX Total Coverage Foundation! I've never tried the original Beauty Blender but this is a pretty great little sponge!

It's $6.99 so much cheaper then the Beauty Blender! I'd never actually been all that interested in the Beauty Blender even while hearing raves about it.. I thought 'how much better can it be then other application methods'? I really like it though! So here's another cheaper alternative/dupe to the Beauty Blender that you could try out if you were interested but don't want to spend the money.

Avon Glazewear Lipgloss in Peach Fizz

I love all things peach so when I saw this new shade of Avon's Glazewear Lipgloss I was excited! It looked very pretty and I'd never tried out these glosses before so I decided to get it and see what I thought!

I'm actually not much of a gloss girl. Lots of glosses are sticky which I can't stand, but Avon claims that these are "always comfy, never sticky". My mom owns two of them and she's not a lipgloss person either but she said that they're nice and not sticky. I still had to see for myself, though!

It has a standard doe-foot applicator which I like, except that I find it be a bit stiff and not as.. soft as other doe-foot applicators I've used. I find it has the right amount of product on it, though so that you don't need to go back for more.

As you can see it's just a very pretty warm peach with fine golden shimmer. I don't have a lip swatch but it looks about the same just slightly more sheer. I'm not really a fan of shimmer in my lip products.. and I think the shimmer is why I don't like the way this looks on me. The claims are correct though! This gloss wasn't sticky at all, so two thumbs up! I wasn't eating or drinking but I found it wore quite well. The shine of course began to dull out after a while, though.

So it's a nice product, I just don't like how this particular shade looked on me! It was such a pretty peach though that my inner makeup junkie said, "Ooh, gimme!". I'm not sure if I'd repurchase and try other shades, though.. Only because like I said, I'm not that much of a gloss girl!

Also, just a small note! I review quite a few Avon products but I'm not sponsored by them or anything of the sort! (Although that would be neat! hehe) I buy all of the products myself and give my honest opinions :) Since I sell Avon I also feel I should have tried out some of their products so that I can help my customers! ...I guess it's also an excuse just to buy more makeup, hehe..

Avon Nailwear Pro Nail Enamel in Coral Reef

As soon as I saw this new color I knew I just had to have it! Isn't it gorgeous? I'd call it like a coral-y watermelon color! It's a really fun and bright color that's just perfect for the summer!

The formula of Avon's polishes can be great or not so great to me.. This one wasn't the greatest formula to work with but the color is awesome sauce and it's worth it! It's fully opaque in two coats, and depending on how much polish is on the brush it can be pretty opaque with just one.

We all already know that I'm not the best at painting my nails so bare with me! I found the color a teeny bit difficult to show up correctly.. One picture I took was totally orange and it's not orange at all! So this photo was taken indoors with flash.

And this photo was taken indoors by a window without flash! I'm really loving this color - I just wish the formula was nicer!

June Empties

Time again for monthly empties! A tiny bit late but that's okay! So here's what I used up during the month of June..

Clean & Clear Facial Cleansing Wipes: These are my favorite cleansing wipes to remove my makeup with and I've repurchased them tons of times! They're also the cheapest wipes so that's a plus! So would I repurchase? I already have!

Avon Nutura Replenishing Cream: I talked a little about this cream in my April Favorites  post. I already ordered another jar! It's my favorite thing to use especially at night. I prefer it over my Shiseido moisturizer that I've been using since I used all of this up! See - you can get great products for great prices!

Benefit Refined Finish Facial Polish: I said in my review including this product that I was on the fence about whether or not I'd purchase the full size of it.. I can say now that I wouldn't. It was nice to try out but I would not repurchase. I have other exfoliaters/scrubs that I prefer and work better then this for half the price of the full size. It too gentle or not gentle enough, and even then it didn't exactly feel like it was doing anything.. Ah! Also it's a total pain trying to squeeze the last of the product out of that tiny sample tube. It's impossible!

Bioderma Sebium AKN: I received this as a sample when I purchased my Cover FX Total Coverage Foundation. Since I had asked the SA about something I could use to conceal my dark acne spots/hyperpigmentation/however you want to go about it she gave this to me as a sample and told me it may help. This little tube has lasted quite a long time and I have another one as well. I do like the product - I think it may have slightly improved my skin but I'm not sure if that's true or I'm just telling myself that, haha. I'm kind of interested in purchasing it to be honest, though.. We'll have to see.

June Favorites!

It's a tiny bit late but here are my June favorites! I picked just four products this month so let's run through them!

theBalm Frat Boy- Oh boy, do I love this blush! It's the prettiest peachy color and I love my peach! It gives the nicest flush of color and is very summery! A tiny bit goes a long way as well! It's the only blush I'd used during June! You can read my review for this here!

theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer- Another theBalm product! I'm really, really loving theBalm! I use this practically every day! It's just the perfect highlight and makes a lovely eyeshadow as well! And again, a little bit of it goes a long way! You can read my review for it right here!

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner- I've been wearing more natural makeup most of the time now that it's hotter out and such so I love to use this just to line my upper waterline! I find it stays quite well on the waterline and it's just a great liner in general - the shade I've been using is in Brown.

Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti- And here's another lip butter! I wore Tutti Frutti a lot during June and you already know I love lip butters! You can read my review on them here.

Since I've been wearing more natural and minimal makeup lately these products are like my go to products! Along with some concealer and a bit of mascara!

Happy Canada Day! NOTD + FOTD

Happy Canada Day to all of my fellow Canadians!!

I love Canada and being a Canadian girl so I wanted to show a little love by sporting Canada inspired nails and makeup today!

On my nails I painted on Canadian flags! I'm already lousy at nails though, so I wasn't even going to attempt to make an actual maple leaf! I'm so impatient when it comes to my nails.. That's why I hate doing them! I really wanted Canadian flags on them for today, though!

I used two coats of China Glaze's White on White since the formula is pretty crappy.. Very thin, streaky and just not so wonderful. And then for the red I used CND's Flashpoint.

So I'm obviously not the the greatest nail artist but I tried!! Now for makeup! This was the perfect day to sport a red lip!

So here's a very derpy photo of me with some pretty untamed hair! I also recently purchased Smashbox's Camera Ready BB Cream which has SPF 35 so it was the perfect day to test it out since it's very, very hot outside! So I may do a review of that in the future. My makeup is just quite simple since I wanted my red lips to stand out! Here's what I'm wearing..

For my face I used..
-Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream in Light/Medium
-Revlon PhotoReady Concealer
-Cover FX Total Coverage Cream Foundation (to conceal dark acne spots)
-Rimmel Maxi Bronzer in 003 Sun Queen
-theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer

For my eyes..
-Random eyebrow pencil, haha
-Too Faced Shadow Insurance
-theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer
-Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Mocha Latte, shade Beige
-Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Brown
-Lancome Artliner in Noir
-Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara

And for my lips..!
-Avon Glimmersticks Lip Liner in Red Brick
-Revlon Matte Lipstick in Really Red

So I hope you're all having a lovely Canada Day, and thank you for reading! xo
