When I had ordered my other Balm Girls lipstick I was stuck between that shade and this one.. I went with the other as it was more suited for the summertime. Even though I didn't like the last lipstick this shade stuck in my mind.. So I decided to get it and hope for the best!
As always, theBalm has super cute packaging with that retro-vibe. These particular lipsticks are a charming parody of James Bond films - each lipstick featuring a different 'Balm' girl. The shade I have here is Mai Billsbepaid.
The shade is described as a 'velvety nude' on theBalm's website. I see it as a soft, pinky beige if that makes sense, haha.
The lipsticks come packaged in a sleek, silver bullet. It does catch a few fingerprints as you can see in the photo. I think it's a nice twist, though, as most lipstick tubes are the usual black.
Here's Mai Billsbepaid swatched on the inside of my wrist. It looks like a really lovely shade, doesn't it? And here's a lip swatch..
It looks a little odd in this cropped photo, but it's a really nice nude that doesn't wash out my skin! It could very well become my go-to nude.
It has a kind of yummy scent with a hint of mint, and no taste.. Where with the other shade I tried had both a minty scent and taste.
The other shade I tried was also on the harder, drier side and dragged a bit on my lips.. Mai Billsbepaid was nice and creamy and applied like a breeze, though! There's no shimmer, and it doesn't accentuate on any dryness or fine lines on my lips.
So, while I didn't quite like the other shade I have I think that Mai Billsbepaid is a lovely and pleasant lipstick! I suppose you can't entirely judge a line on only one product.
The Balm Girls lipsticks are $17, but on Hautelook they usually sell for only $8.50! My mother commented that this looked like a nice shade so I might just get her one next time it's on Hautelook! :)
