MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream Review & Swatches
Um.. This product is a BAMF.
I received this MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream in the shade 13 Warm Beige as a gift on Christmas, and I really like it a lot. Before I begin here's some of the information on this product from Sephora:
What it is:
An ultra-pigmented, long-lasting waterproof cream.
What it does:
Aqua Cream combines the highest-quality pigments with mother of pearl particles to give immediate rich color payoff with a luminous finish in just one application. It's long-lasting formulation will not crease or smudge under the most extreme conditions and its creamy and elastic texture allows for easy blending.
These Aqua Creams are $26CA for 0.21 oz of product, and have quite a nice selection of neutrals as well as 'pure bright tones', and you can most likely 'find the perfect color for any purpose'.
First thing I'll say is that all of the above is indeed true! This awesome little guy is wonderfully pigmented, doesn't crease, doesn't smudge, is waterproof, is easy to blend, and is long lasting. All of these claims can usually make one somewhat skeptical but they're all true for the Aqua Cream!
Now, when I first tried this out I was expecting it to be a cream similar to something like the Maybelline Color Tattoos in terms of texture and such. I was ready to dip my finger in and rub gently to pick up product and this is what happened:
As you can see, I used too much pressure! You really only need the lightest touch to pick up this product. I wasn't expecting this and my finger dug in a bit, revealing an almost mousse-like kind of texture. It's not 'hard' like other cream shadows I've tried and I really like the formula and texture of it!
You only need a little bit of this whether you just want a sheer wash of it or something more pigmented and opaque. It's super easy to sheer out or build up depending on what you're going for. It also blends very easily, and gives you quite a nice amount of time to work before it sets. Once it sets you yourself are set - this stuff isn't going anywhere! As I already said, this doesn't crease, smudge, budge, fade... nothing! It's wonderful!
Finally, here's a (quite heavy) swatch. Warm Beige is described as a 'champagne shimmer', and is a lovely shade for a neutral lover like me. It's a great shade to just wear all over the lid on a lazy day! And it looks beautiful either sheered out or built up. It is quite shimmery, though, so I'm careful not to get any sparkle where I don't want it when I'm blending it.
And here's a much more sheered out swatch of it..! Very pretty both ways, isn't it? Now there is a con to this product being so smudge-proof etc.. It's quite difficult to remove! At first silly me thought I could just rub it off..! I was wrong, very wrong. I then tried to rub it off with a tissue. Still didn't work. So I tried rubbing it off with water. Still no luck. Alright, get out the makeup remover then..! Even then it was really hard to remove and my wrist ended up quite red from scrubbing at it! So use a good makeup remover and try to be gentle on your eyes when removing this!
And the only other con about this product for me is that I don't like the smell. It smells almost like.. chemicals? Do not like. I can't smell it unless I put my nose right to the pot or something, though, so no biggy! So, overall this stuff rocks my socks! Have you tried it?
