Essie Nail Lacquer in Belugaria Review & Swatch

When I first saw swatches of Belugaria from Essie's Encrusted collection online I thought that it looked interesting, so I decided to try it out for myself. Belugaria is a jet black polish that's packed full of textured matte glitter and holographic hex glitters.

In the photo above I used two thin coats, and no top coat as suggested by Essie. Application was easy for the most part.. I found that the matte, textured glitters tend to stick to a few certain spots making the first coat look pretty uneven and streaky, but with the second coat it looks fine. It was a little bit difficult to get the brush to move smoothly over the first coat of polish, though. Speaking of those textured glitters, they look and feel much more textured then something like OPI's Liquid Sand polishes. Belugaria is quite gritty to the touch and personally I don't like having it on my nails. It's a neat polish but it's just not for me.. I find that it looks clumpy and unattractive

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Review & Swatches

December has been a not so great month of blogging for me, but I'm finally back with a review on Lip Tars by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics! Lip Tars are a product that I've wanted to try for years, so when I saw this Lip Tar All-Star Mini set on Sephora I knew that it was the perfect opportunity to finally do so. Unfortunately, the set was limited edition and is now sold out, but I hope that this post will be helpful if you're trying to decide whether to try Lip Tars or not! Anyway, this set comes with four mini Lip Tars in Memento, NSFW, Anime, and Black Dahlia, as well as a small lip brush which isn't pictured.

Here they are swatched in the same order as above. Memento is a pink/plum neutral, NSFW is a true, balanced red, Anime is a vibrant neon pink, and Black Dahlia is a blackened red. You can also mix them to create your own custom colors but I haven't played around with that yet!

(Lip swatches; sorry about the quality!)

Lip Tars are described as "deeply pigmented liquid lipsticks with extraordinary staying power", and both of those claims are absolutely correct. You only need the tiniest bead of product and while I always heard this I underestimated just how little product you really need! The color pay-off is amazing and the lasting power is crazy (I still have stains on my wrist from swatching even after showering!). All four shades performed well and were quite consistent, though Black Dahlia seemed a little bit thinner then the others and Memento seemed a bit creamier. You do need a steady hand and some patience when applying these though, so if you're in a rush I probably wouldn't reach for them.

Overall, Lip Tars are awesome products and I plan on adding them to my kit so I would definitely recommend them. They can be a bit drying on the lips though, so if you're not fond of lip products that stain, are drying, or take a bit more effort and time to apply then you might want to skip them.

OPI Nail Lacquer in Underneath The Mistletoe

I've found the perfect nail polish to sport this Christmas!: It's Underneath The Mistletoe by OPI from their Mariah Carey Holiday collection.

I'd like to apologize for the picture quality before I continue.. My lighting situation was less than stellar when I took it! Anyway, Underneath The Mistletoe is a gorgeous, deep cherry red with a hint of sparkle. It's something a little different from the hundreds of red cremes on the market, which is nice! Application was smooth and easy, and the polish is opaque with two coats. Love it! What about you?

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in 107 Quick Review & Swatch

I haven't blogged for a while but I'm back today with this gorgeous shade from Rimmel's Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick line by Kate Moss: 107. It's apparently a good dupe for Heaux from MAC's RiRi Hearts MAC collection, which I loved the look of but didn't want to go through the hassle of getting (buying from the Archie's Girls collection was one of the most stressful moments of my life, haha).

107 is a deep, berry red and I think that it's perfect for the fall as well as the holidays! I can't physically compare it to MAC's Heaux personally, but I'm very happy with the shade whether it's a dupe or not.

Okay, let's talk quality.. The lipstick is smooth, but not quite creamy and is opaque in one go. It has pretty good wear time and it also leaves a stain which helps too. It's more of a satin finish then a matte as it claims, but this could be fixed with the blot of a tissue. Unfortuantely it has a tendency to cling to dry bits on the lips and also feathers, so I would definitely recommend using a lip scrub beforehand as well as a lip liner or base! It also has a bit of a waxy, generic lipstick scent to it, and while I dislike it I find that I'm able to ignore it pretty easily. What do you think?
