Nude & Glitter Nails

This is OPI's Dulce De Leche and Pirouette My Whistle, and together they make one of  the most lovely nail combos. I never really thought of layering glitters over nudes before, but it adds a really soft and pretty touch..

Here I used two coats of Dulce De Leche for full coverage, and one coat of Pirouette My Whistle to top it. I actually first saw this nail combo on Sleep And Water (one of my favorite blogs) a while ago and absolutely loved how it looked; I knew that I would have to get my hands on the polishes and recreate it someday and here we are now. It's definitely become one of my new favorite nail looks!

theBalm Instain Blush in Toile Review & Swatches

theBalm's Instain Blush is a relatively new product that's supposed to be long wearing as well as leave a stain, which I found intriguing. I absolutely love theBalm and I also love blushes so I knew that I would have to try one of them out eventually! Luckily, I was able to finally get one from their last Hautelook sale, and out of the six shades available I chose Toile, a 'strawberry'.
Like theBalm's other blushes, Toile comes packaged in a cardboard compact with a magnetic closure. The exterior features what looks like a magazine cover, and the inside is printed with a toile pattern - super cute! All of the other shades are named after patterns as well, and the patterns on the inside coordinate with each name which I think is neat!
Like I said earlier, Toile is a nice 'strawberry' pink. It does contain a bit of shimmer, but on the face it appears as more of a sheen. Here's a swatch:
Toile has some serious pigmentation, and you only need the lightest tap of product on your brush.. Trust me, it's really easy to get too much so be careful! The texture of this blush is quite firm (like theBalm's other blushes) but not at all dry or chalky, and it applies and blends well. When the right amount is applied it gives a really pretty flushed glow, kind of as if you had just been out playing in the snow. As for the long wearing and staining claims? It's definitely long wearing and lasts all day on me but it doesn't literally stain the skin.. not that I really wanted it to anyway! Overall, I give this blush a thumbs up.. I'd love to try another shade!

OPI Nail Lacquer in 4 In The Morning Review & Swatch

Gwen Stefani has great style, catchy music, and her makeup is always on point, so I was excited when it was announced that she would be collaborating with OPI. Here I have 4 In The Morning from said collaboration and I must say.. I love it.

4 In The Morning is a charcoal black with shimmers, and has a new 'satin' finish. In the photo above I used two coats and no top coat as OPI directs, and what I'm left with is a really nice matte finish. The formula is smooth, application was a breeze, and it dried quickly as well which is everything that I want in a polish. As for the shimmer, it's definitely less noticeable once it dries but you can still see it if you look closely. Overall, I absolutely love 4 In The Morning.. It's very classy looking and I feel like the combination of the shimmer and satin finish make it unique from other blacks on the market. Definitely recommend!

MAC Brush Cleanser Review

I've heard many good things about MAC's Brush Cleanser, and I'm happy to announce that it didn't disappoint. Like most of you, I hate washing my brushes and like a cleanser that's easy and fast to use.. and this one is! It comes in a generic bottle with a push down lid and contains 235ml for $18(CAN). To test its cleansing powers I chose to wash my foundation brush (Real Techniques Expert Face Brush) along with an eyeshadow brush (Sigma E25) that had been taken over by shimmers. All I did was wet the brushes as directed, and then I poured a little of the cleanser into my palm and swirled the brushes around.. The eyeshadow brush was clean in seconds - not a speck of shimmer or color was left behind. As for my foundation brush, it did an adequate job but there was still a bit of staining left around the center. Foundation can be hard to get out though, and I'm only able to get it out completely with dish soap and extra virgin olive oil (which I use for deep cleaning) so I didn't bump any points for that. Overall, this cleanser did a better job (especially with foundation) then other brush cleansers I've tried and I'm very impressed with it. It doesn't have a strong scent, dries quickly, doesn't mess with the shape or feel of my brushes, and of course, does a great job at cleaning them. I definitely recommend it!

Venique Nail Lacquer in Glamorous Review & Swatch

Venique's Nail Lacquer in Glamorous is really pretty. Like, really, really pretty. It's full of gold shimmer and glitter as well as larger pink hex glitters all in a clear base, and it's what I wore for New Years Eve (though my cats were the only ones to see it since I didn't leave the house..).

Glamorous would definitely work as a topcoat seeing as it's sheer, but I wanted my nails to be fully blinged out so I used three coats which gave me pretty much full opacity. Very glamorous looking isn't it? I like that all the gold shimmer and glitter creates an almost foiled look. As for application I had no issues and the glitter dispersed evenly on the nails.. I hate when glitter clumps together in one spot so this one gets a thumbs up!

Starting 2014...

Hello, everyone! I have some exciting news to share with you... I'm now a certified makeup artist in Beauty, Bridal, Fashion, Film, and Photography makeup! I started the new year off with a bang and had the opportunity to take makeup courses with Paramita Academy of Makeup Inc. and learn from Jessica Obregon herself (the owner and creator of the school). Jessica is very knowledgeable, friendly, and was able to answer any questions that I had for her; I gained lots of hands on experience, advice on the business, new tips and tricks, and along with Jessica, the other students and the models made my experience really fun and comfortable.. I didn't want it to end but I'm excited to finally have my certification!

I'll be getting back to reviews and such later this week, but for now here's three of my favorite makeup looks that I did:

Smokey Eyes Makeup on Ancelene, Fashion Makeup on Savannah, Photography Makeup on Amber
