L'Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara Review & Photos

Did you know that aside from makeup and cats I'm also a big anime and manga nerd? In fact, that's my reason for purchasing L'Oreal's newest mascara: Voluminous Miss Manga. This mascara claims to give you "the manga look" by amplifying the top lashes and maximizing the bottom lashes.

The wand is cone shaped, which helps you get at those inner corner lashes, and is also slightly flexible.. L'Oreal calls it their "360 Flexor Brush". While I do like the wand, I find that quite a lot of product stays on it so I think the stopper in the tube could definitely be improved. Anyways, onto the performance..

Wearing 2-3 coats of Miss Manga Mascara

The formula of Miss Manga is on the wetter side, and while I usually don't like wet mascaras I had no issues with it. Application was easy, and I could easily get to the lashes near the inner corners of my eyes thanks to the cone shaped wand. Despite being in the Voluminous line, Miss Manga doesn't really offer much volume.. It gives much more length and separation instead. It also makes the lashes slightly clumpy, but I find that this actually adds to the whole manga look. In the end, this mascara leaves me looking more wide-eyed and dollish (or manga-ish in this case). If you're looking for more volume then you might want to skip this one, but I actually like it quite a lot! Will you be trying it? (ᅌᴗᅌ* )

Marcelle BB Cream: My Current Favorite Base

I've wanted to try Marcelle's BB Cream ($22.95CDN) for years, so you can imagine my excitement when my mom surprised me with a tube (thanks again mama ^‿^)! I've been using it for quite a while now and it's since become my current favorite base.. Before I share my thoughts with you here's what Marcelle has to say about it on the back of the tube:

"The ultimate multi-tasking skin enhancer: lightweight moisturizer with adaptive pigments to even out and brighten skin tone, formulated with powerful antioxidants, aloe vera, and chamomile to help protect and improve skin's appearance."

This BB Cream is also hypo-allergenic, perfume free, paraben free, oil free, non-comedogenic, and dermatologist tested; on top of all of that it also claims to do the following:

*Evens out skin tone
*Offers immediate and long-term hydrating benefits
*Protects from premature aging and environmental stresses
*Promotes skin regeneration
*Controls shine
*Soothes and calms
*Reduces the appearance of imperfections
*Provides anti-dull radiant complexion

Phew, that's a lot.. haha. As for my thoughts, let's start with the packaging.. It comes in a fairly simple tube with a pump and contains 45ml of product (most foundations and such have 30ml so you get a little extra). It's not the most eye-catching packaging but I like it anyway.. it's convenient and it works! Onto the actual product.. The consistency is a slightly thick cream that's really easy blend out (I use either my hands or a brush). It has medium coverage that I was quite impressed with, and most of the time I find that I'm able to get away with skipping concealer which is great. It has a natural, slightly dewy finish and it looks and feels as if I'm not even wearing anything. I do recommend setting it with some powder though, because although it wears well all day for me I do find myself getting a little shiny after about six hours despite its claim to control shine. As for the shade, I use 'Light Medium' which is actually a pretty great match for me. Overall, I'm really enjoying this BB Cream.. it's definitely becoming my go-to base for the summer!

MAC Alluring Aquatic Lipstick in Goddess of the Sea Review & Swatches

Today I'll be reviewing the lipstick that I got from MAC's Alluring Aquatic collection: Goddess of the Sea. Like the blush (and the rest of the collection), it comes in beautiful teal packaging with textured water droplets. I really have to give it to MAC because I think that they absolutely blew it out of the water with the packaging.. I just love it so much! I could go on and on about it but let's move on and see a swatch, shall we?

Goddess of the Sea is described as a 'dark, vibrant violet' and is a Cremesheen finish. Like all of MAC's lipsticks it has a yummy vanilla scent and no noticeable taste. It almost looks a bit translucent in the swatch above, but it actually has really great color pay-off. Here it is on the lips:

Application was easy, and the formula is super smooth.. it just glides on like butter! It's also comfortable to wear and I even found it lightly hydrating which is a big plus in my book. As for the wear time, it transferred if I was kissing cats or having a drink but despite that it wore quite well for several hours. The verdict? I really like it and it makes me feel like a goddess of the sea, haha! And the good news? For once it's currently still available online!

MAC Alluring Aquatic Extra Dimension Blush in Sea Me, Hear Me Review & Swatches

Like the rest of the world, I was positively enticed by MAC's new Alluring Aquatics collection.. From the colors, to the sea-inspired names, to the stunning packaging, it was a collection I just couldn't resist. I ended up being able to get my hands on a lipstick (review to come) and an Extra Dimension Blush in Sea Me, Hear Me, which is the subject of this post. Before anything else, let's talk a bit more about the packaging.. If I had to describe it in one word I would choose 'stunning'. Not only is the metallic teal shade gorgeous, but you can actually feel the water droplets which is really neat!

The pan has MAC's signature Extra Dimension design on it: the brand logo imprinted on the top half, and raised waves on the bottom half. The design doesn't wear away quickly which is awesome; I've used this blush a few times already but you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at it. Okay, moving onto the actual product.. Sea Me, Hear Me is described as a 'beige pink' which I would say is quite accurate and has a nice sheen to it. Here's a swatch:

Isn't it pretty? I prefer to wear one light layer so it looks more natural (it makes me feel like a sun-kissed mermaid ´∀`), but it's buildable so you could wear it a bit more boldly if you like. The texture of the blush is super smooth and soft, and it applies and blends beautifully.. MAC claims that it will last up to six hours, but I found that it lasted up to almost eight hours on me (I have combination skin that gets more oily in the summer) before it began to noticeably fade. This was my first experience with an Extra Dimension blush (or any of MAC's blushes for that matter), and I'm happy to say that I'm really impressed! I would definitely recommend it, and while it's unfortunately sold out online you may still be able to track it down at a counter or store.
