MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Palette Volume 1 - Nudes Review & Swatches
Today let's check out MAKE UP FOR EVER's Artist Palette Volume 1 - Nudes ($49CDN), which I treated myself to for my birthday last month. It's a "collectible eye shadow palette with nine must-have Artist Shadow formulas in neutral tones", which I totally need more of haha. This palette was my first experience with MUFE's shadows, and I'm happy to report that I'm quite impressed!
MAKE UP FOR EVER says that their shadows have an "advanced gel-powder formula blended with ultrafine pigments" so that each shade "leaves a smooth, even finish that leaves lids ultra-saturated with highly-blendable, lasting color". The shades included in the palette are I-528 Pearl, I-514 Pink Ivory, ME-512 Golden Beige, S-556 Taupe Gray, D-562 Taupe Platinum, ME-644 Iced Brown, S-102 Onyx, I-544 Pink Granite, and D-652 Celestial Earth. Let's get to swatches..
Here's the top row, which from left to right is I-528 Pearl, I-514 Pink Ivory, and ME-512 Golden Beige. These three make great highlights on the lid, brow-bone, or inner corners.
Next is the second row, which from left to right is S-556 Taupe Gray, D-562 Taupe Platinum, and ME-644 Iced Brown. I like using each of these as all-over lid shades, but I'll use Taupe Gray in the crease as well.
And last but not least, the third row, which from left to right is S-102 Onyx, I-544 Pink Granite, and D-652 Celestial Earth. Onyx is a rich black which is handy to have in any collection, and Pink Granite and Celestial Earth are more shades I like using as lid shades.
Each of the shadows had nice, smooth textures with excellent pigmentation (all swatches are just one swipe each) and wore all day over primer. Out of all of the shades my favorites at the moment would have to be Iced Brown and Celestial Earth, which I've been switching between for my lid shade for a while now. I also go for Pearl or Golden Beige a lot when I want to brighten my inner corners. All in all, it's a good quality palette with a nice selection of neutrals. My only con is that I wish there were some mattes included so I didn't have to switch between palettes, but that's not a big deal!
